DONT CRY AGNETHA (mixed media, inscribed vinyl plate) ANOHNI 2025

$1,400.00

After Trump’s inauguration, ANOHNI was compelled to pull a series of books and records from her collection and deface them with the directive “DON’T CRY”. The command was issued to various subjects, depending on the nature of the media upon which it was painted. It was no longer safe to cry.

Agnetha Fältskog’s fear of flying became widely publicized, especially during ABBA’s peak years, which made the band’s international tours and performances quite challenging for her. Her singing voice pierced the hearts of children around the world with her cold, clear love. ANOHNI was Shiva.

ABBA 7” vinyl with hand painted “DON’T CRY AGNETHA” on outer sleeve. Included is an inscribed jukebox single “Little Sister” by Elvis Presley, with the statement “Forgive Me, Mother Earth” and signed by ANOHNI. Also, a flyer for The Johnsons’ 1995 production ‘Miracle Now’ at P.S. 122 on 2nd Ave in NYC, featuring an image of Johanna Constantine.
