After Trump’s inauguration, ANOHNI was compelled to pull a series of books and records from her collection and deface them with the directive “DON’T CRY”. The command was issued to various subjects, depending on the nature of the media upon which it was painted.
This book, never read by ANOHNI and yet retained by her for years was one of the first American children's books to introduce the concept of Dutch culture to the U.S. The Dutch were a pwerful and brutal colonial force, like the English. When ANOHNI lived in AMesterda for a year in 1977, she experienced the Utopian postwar city as a kind of paradise. Years later she found out that he house was situation directly opposite the building that house the SS, and her playground had been utilized a fenced containment. A “Bouy” in the Etymology of ANOHNI’s “I am a Bird Now” is a boy who is floating, lost at sea.
