In this hand-crafted edition of 10, ANOHNI cut a triangular shape from the cover of her 2016 LP HOPELESSNESS . After painting the shard of paper with 5 coats of Pyrrole red acrylic, she reassembled the image.
The far right wing in the US and across parts of Europe seeks to crush women’s reproductive rights and assume patriarchal rule. The pink triangle, once forced upon homosexuals by the Nazis in concentration camps, was later appropriated by AIDS activists such as Queer Nation and ACT-UP during the AIDS crisis. Here, ANOHNI employs a red triangle to suggest the fomenting of a grassroots rebellion among feminist activists in 2025.
Inner sleeve includes unique gestural lines, select lyrics, signature and edition number in ANOHNI’s calligraphy. An ancient Anasazi pottery fragment from ANOHNI’s collections is included.
